Hey guys. I was just wondering how those big celebrity sites gets so many viewers.
Also how they keep them coming, I mean everyone writes content but you never get any viewers, just wonder how you would change that. Thank you!!

I suppose it comes down to posting links on other sites, and maybe setting up a presence on sites like Facebook, Myspace and Twitter with links to the forum.

They call it SEO, meaning Search Engine Optimisation.

When someone sets up a new website they have to submit their site to search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing, then those search engines send out "bots" to index all the content on the site.

The trick is, in order to get your site showing up on the first page of a search engine when someone types in a search term, your site has to have unique content, and the more the better.

When you make a new page on a website you enter what's called meta tags in the header of the page, for example, if your page contained pictures of Britney Spears, then you would put something like Britney Spears at the Grammy Awards, then the search engine bots will show this on the page when someone does a search containing those words.

That's it basically, in order to get and keep traffic/visitors to your site you have to build links in as many places as you can, and rely on the members and visitors to spread the word to their friends.

There's a saying from an old car advertisement that webmasters or owners of sites used to use, "If you build it, they will come."

They used this because some thought that just building a cool site was in itself enough to get traffic, but that's not true, especially these days as search engines changed the way the rank sites on their listings based on the amount of content and how unique it is.

So, this site for instance has a good domain name (celebrityforumsdotcom), and has lots of great content too, that's why it shows up on the first page of Google, but to increase the amount of traffic it gets takes backlinks and members to spread the word.

Hello Glenn. I'm very appreciated with your answer. I have started a website and I have about 9 posts , but we haven't got any viewers. I don't know why. I will start a group on facebook and I might join Twitter and Myspace just for the group. This was very interesting and I have learnet some more. Thankyou very much Glenn.
